Kashibai, a Maharashtrian Brahmin woman of the Peshwa era, her looks in this movie Bajirao Mastani stole our heart. In one of the scenes she is wrapped in mauve colored Peshwa Paithani, a traditional sari. Her hair is beautifully stuffed in a traditional bun. There is a golden crown like hair accessory which depicts her authority. She adors a nath, golden jhumkis and a crescent moon bindi which is holds special significance for Marathi women. Her makeup is kept minimal to make her character look authentic, with a little color on her lips and no makeup look for the rest of the face.

Being religious she has flower stuck in her khopa i.e. traditional bun which is considered auspicious. In most of the scenes Priyanka is seen wearing a Mangalsutra which is the sign of marriage among women but there is no vermillion a it was not worn in Peshwa culture at that time. In one of the scenes where Priyanka is wooing Bajirao in a warrior helmet, she is draped in earthy color sari and has green bangles on her wrist which is yet another significant sign of marriage among Marathi women.

Once again she is bejeweled in mangalsutra, Rani Haar, intricately worked earrings whose multi golden strings are attached to hair for support and not to forget her traditional Nath. Being a homely and down to earth natured woman, Kashibai’s look has been designed in a similar way. As for her makeup, more focus has been given to earthy shades for eye makeup, lips and contouring. As in that era kajal was not prevalent among Hindus, thus heavy kohl rimmed eyes are missing in all the looks.
