Lips are extremely delicate part of our body. Only a thin layer of skin protects them. Lips are very much prone to drying out than the rest of our body parts because they are always exposed to natural elements like dust, heat, dryness. Result? Dry chapped and cracked lips! So it becomes imperative to take proper care of our lips. Dry and cracked lips are extremely painful. And chapped lips are embarrassing too. The best way to protect our lips is using lip balm. Let’s check out my post on how to make lip balms at home.

Lip balm adds a layer of protection on our lips. A good lip balm seal up cracks and prevents any kind of infection on lips. Few lip balms also come with SPF, which protects our lips against sun damage and prevent discoloration. If you have dry lips, no lipstick will look good on you. Lipsticks look best on moist soft lips. Lip balms are made to lock the moisture on your lips. Lots of lip balms are available in the market these days. But most of them contain chemicals & preservatives that can be harmful for our delicate lips. So what’s the solution? Make your own lip balm. In this post we have discussed how to make lip balm at home.
Make Olive oil & cocoa butter lip balm at Home
Take 1 tbsp of olive oil in a bowl and add 1 tsp of cocoa butter to it. Now place it on a double boiler and let the cocoa butter melt. Once the butter is completely melted, add some honey to the mixture and combine all three ingredients nicely. Remove the mixture from the heat and then allow it to cool overnight. Keep it in a container and store in the refrigerator to avoid melting. Your lip balm is ready to use! Scrap some rosy pink blush (or whichever is your favorite) and add to the balm for a beautiful tinted lip balm.
Olive oil and honey moisturize the lips and keep them hydrated. Cocoa butter makes lips soft and plump.

Next add 1 tsp of any cold cream to the strawberry and honey mixture and mix well. In a double boiler, melt 3-4 spoons of beeswax and add the previously prepared mixture. Combine everything together. Some of these lip balm recipes have beeswax in them. Beeswax helps to keep skin hydrated by attracting water from nature. Beeswax also stiffens the lip balm. But if you can’t get beeswax, just refrigerate the balm for a longer period of time and it will set beautifully.
