Glycolic acid is a type of alpha-hydroxy acid, or more commonly known as AHA. Glycolic acid can be found naturally in sugar cane and other fruit sugars. It is a dermatology treatment to enhance the texture and health of the skin. Glycolic acid, when applied as peel, acts as an outstanding exfoliant and peeling agent. The enzymes in the glycolic acid remove dead skin cells and improve skin complexion. A glycolic peel can also make skin softer and younger looking by reducing wrinkles and fine lines.
