Always wear a softer fabric beneath your woolens so that the dryness does not get exaggerated. So, read on Skin Care Routine for Dry Skin to know all the info you need to avoid those dry patches and itchy skin this winter season.
Skin Care Routine for Dry Skin – Morning Routine
No matter how dry your skin texture is, there is no skipping a cleanser as you do need to get rid of dead skin cells, dirt and sebum from your face. For morning you can choose a soap free formula as since you had already washed your face at night, it is relatively cleaner. The face washes with soap free formula are made up of similar ingredients like regular face washes but with no detergents. So, their formula is milder on skin and does not deplete skin oils. Look out for a cleanser that is free from fragrance and alcohol.
An alcohol free formula like that based on Rose or Cucumber should work the best for you
Just in case you want to know, why is it important for dry skin in morning.. Well, you are about to step out in harsh environment where your skin will be exposed to pollution, irritants and sun rays. Antioxidant serum helps infuse defensive agents into your skin so as to prevent the environmental damage to a good extent and gear up your skin against the free radicals.
Moisturizers with SPF
Sun protection factor blocks the UV rays of the sun from penetrating your skin and damaging it and moisturizer of course, restores your skin’s moisture balance. You do not need a greasy lotion, you just need something that seeps in deep into skin making it feel supple and nourished.
Skin Care Routine for Dry Skin – Night Routine
You can pick a gentle foaming formula here as after a long day, outdoors, your skin tends to be dirtier. Try a couple of face washes and select the one that does not stretch out your skin. You can also pick something that has very mild, scrub beads. Dry skin does not need an extensive exfoliation routine and a build in, gentle scrub usually is sufficient.
Same as daytime. Any refreshing, alcohol free serum would do.
This a more potent antioxidant mix with vitamin A as it’s main ingredient. Retinol signals your brain for production of new collagen fibres and also speeds up the production new skin cells.
Under Eye Cream
The skin around eyes is thinner as there is lesser subcutaneous fat underneath the skin over here. Thin skin around eyes tends to shrivel sooner leading to appearance of signs of ageing like fine lines and crow’s feet around eyes. A good eye cream hydrates the skin under and around eyes to make it appear healthy and plump.
Choose a night cream with essential oils like tea tree oil that help to fade acne spots and scars. Since you have already applied antioxidant serum, you may choose a cream with or without antioxidants.
Do this once a week for Skin Care Routine for Dry Skin
Hydrating Fruit Peels
You can use mild fruit peels made from mashing papaya or strawberries. These act to infuse moisture into your skin and have anti ageing benefits as well.
You can use Almond oil or Olive oil on your face once a week, especially during winters.
