Shingar Kajal Review

Hi all 🙂 It’s time to share Shingar Kajal Review. From the evergreen and coquettish “Gulaabi aankhein” to the sensuous “In aankhon ki masti ke mastaane hazaroon hai’, from the romantic “Aankhon mein teri ajab si ajab si adaayein hai” which had SRK shower the dimpled beauty Deepika with undivided attention to the peppy “Tere mast mast do nain” which had Salman ‘Dabangg’ Khan flex his muscles and flaunt his machismo, eyes have expressed what words failed to 🙂 Even the teaser of JTHJ had SRK voice a soul-stirring poem for his lady love. The poem was penned by the man who plays effortlessly with words- Gulzar. It began by eulogizing the lady’s eyes as “Teri aankhon ki namkeen mastiyaan…” 🙂 In a nutshell, eyes aptly are the gateway to someone’s heart!

Shingar Kajal Review

To add that inescapable pull, inexplicable charm and charisma to one’s eyes, no makeup helps! It comes naturally. Always! No makeup in the world can lead innocence, mischief or charm to your eyes. Makeup on the contrary, just works on your eyes externally and modifies your appearance. Kajal, also called Kohl in English, is a staple in Indian skin care. We embellish our eyes with it which amps up their glam quotient by leaps and bounds. Today, I will be sharing Shingar Kajal Review. It happens to be the first kohl/kajal brand that I used. I am averse or rather more aptly, afraid of those kajals that come in pencil form since I am quite poor in matters requiring precision!! So, I have always opted for kajals in a pot/tub packaging disregarding its hygiene factor. Anyway, without further ado, let’s head straight to Shingar Kajal Review.

Price of Shingar Kajal : Rs.5/- for 2 g

Directions for use : Using your finger, carefully apply a generous amount of Shingar Kajal on your waterline and eyelids.

My experience with Shingar Kajal

Shingar Kajal comes packed in a minuscule red-colored plastic pack with a tub inside that contains the kajal. The double-layer packaging ensures zero tampering during delivery and for the price (or rather the alms which I have paid ), the tub packaging is acceptable. I know a lot many cite the problem of lack of hygiene when it comes to using products that come packed in tubs/pots but I am quite afraid of using kohls in stick/pencil forms hence, I am absolutely okay with the tub packaging. It is travel-friendly and sturdy as well. Despite using this brand of kohl since long, the cap of every tub that I have used so far has never loosened. In terms of packaging, I find it up to the mark.

The kajal has a non-greasy and non-sticky texture. It is jet black in color and when applied on one’s eyelids/waterline, leaves a color payoff that would put most high-end kajals to shame 🙂 It transfers a rich jet black color! However, it has its limitations too. It isn’t smudge-free so, one has to be diligent throughout the course of the day not to rub one’s eyes.

I’d like to clarify beforehand that whatever I apply on my eyelids tends to stay for a long duration. In other words, it might be the case that a particular kajal stayed for a few hours on your eyelids but has the probability of staying for longer on my eyelids. This kajal is no exception. I have to apply this only twice a day and it stays well for an entire day. However, this point is subjective. I asked my mother to try it and in her case, it didn’t stay for long. At the best, it stayed for 3-3.5 hours which I feel is commendable. So, its staying power is good in my opinion.

The only drawback I find with Shingar Kajal?is that its ingredients’ list hasn’t been furnished which raises doubts regarding its genuineness and composition. I don’t know whether it contains lead or not which is bothersome. So, that for is the only but a major drawback.

Given its “almost-free” price, quantity per pot/tub, excellent color payoff but inability to be smudge-proof and suspicious chemical composition, Shingar Kajal is a decent buy.

Good about Shingar Kajal

  • Excellent color payoff with even a single swipe. If not satisfied, 2-3 swipes will surely leave a jet black tinge to your waterline/eyelid.
  • Dirt cheap
  • Travel-friendly
  • Decent staying power
  • Hasn’t caused any allergy to either my mother or me till date after years of usage

Bad about Shingar Kajal

  • Ingredients’ list isn’t provided at all which is fishy
  • Tub packaging may not find many takers
  • Not smudge-proof

Availability : Easy

Fashion and Beauty Rating : 3.5/5

  1. I have used this long time back. Smudges, smudges and smudges more.

    • Yes, that’s a major con Sangeeta. I’m not a dab hand in applying kohl that comes in those pencil/stick forms which is why I rely on this mainly. Also the colour payoff is really praiseworthy 🙂 I’ll shift to some other kajal in tub/pot form once I’m done with this one.

  2. This looks like the homemmade kajal. It smudges, apply with fingers and not longstaying.

    • I hope it is similar in composition to homemade kajal Ankita 🙂 Homemade kajal is unparalleled. Yes, it isn’t smudge free but one can wipe the area which has its traces with a tissue or wet cloth. I know it sounds too onerous but for someone like me who’s not nailed the art of applying kajals that come in the pencil/stick form, this lies on my shelf 🙂

  3. I hate such kajals…they don’t do anything actually

    • It isn’t a dud Pallavi. It just isn’t a winner all the way 🙂 And for novice or rather amateurs like me who use an eraser twice the time they use a pencil, this one’s surely not a bad bet 😉 Who’d wish to end up with bleeding eyes after all? 🙂

  4. I have used this kajal for 12 years of my life during school times. It smudges a lot but it did give a good color pay off & the amount of product is so much.

  5. I have been using Shingar kajal since my childhood.. but now since few months I’m not able to find it in our city Ajmer…So many different kajal brands are there but I prefer only Shingar kajal…but now nowhere i can find it…if u can pls help me out in purchasing it online or finding it in nearby stores Shingar kajal..
