Indian brides are one of the prettiest in the world with richly adorned Lehenga Choli and Sarees and delicate expressions. Bollywood has continued to inspire Bridal Attire , jewellery and makeup since forever. Here, I have attempted to bring to you the most beautiful Bollywood beauties for you. However, The list went too long and due to cultural variation it was not possible to justify each bridal look and attire in a single write up.So, I would be bringing this compilation to you in three parts. In the first part, we will be talking about Rajasthani & Bengali Indian brides. Volume 2 of this article would be about North Indian & Christian Brides. Volume 3 would be all about Marathi bridal beauties and Pakistani Brides. I really hope, you would enjoy it thoroughly…
Rajasthani/ Rajpoot Brides
Rajasthani Bridal look is mostly about Heavy jewellery. In jodha Akbar, Aishwarya’s look as a Rajpoot Bride is simply unbeatable. Her sets are so attractive that one simply cannot take their eyes off her neckpieces, jhumkis, bangles and headgears. For me, her delicate nathni style, Nose ring steals the show!!!
She totally justified her character as the queen of Hindustan. Her makeup is kept muted so that it does not clash with her jewellery. Mostly, her face makeup is done in a clear base, Brownish to earthy toned eyeshadows, Lips in very natural shades of Pink and a coat of clear mascara with a traditional Bindi to complete the Malika’s look.

Her attire was mostly made in silk, georgettes, chiffons and Brocade and had a rich fusion of Zari work, Bead work and heavy embroidery. To go with such heavy embellishments, Warmer and Royal shades in Golden, Beige and Emerald had been used extensively throughout the movie.
Her Bridal outfit was Red and the veil or ghunghat was see through made out of net which added an additional ounce of elegance to her look as a Rajasthani bride.
Rani Mukherjee also played the role of a Rahjasthani Bride in Paheli. Again, jewellery did all the talking and makeup was kept very basic with smokey eyes as highlight.
The attire of Rajasthani bride is usually in three peices consisting of a lehenga:a long skirt, a choli: blouse and a duppatta. The intricats Embroidery is often in form of animal and Bird forms. A lot of zari and Gota patti work is also seen on a Rajasthani Bride’s attire.
When it comes to Rajasthani mehandi designs… Peacock motifs, Flowers, Doli and Dulha Dulhan patterns are very common. Also, women of Rajastgan loved adorning their hands with mehendi due to it’s cooling effects.
Many B Town beauties including Aishwarya, Priyanka, Yami gautam etc have potrayed the role of a Bengali Bride in movies. If I were to point out one common thing in all these looks… it would definitely be the Bold, expressive and captivating eyes. In Bengali bridal look, eyes are always enhanced using thick lines of Kohl on the upper eyelid as well as lower lashline. Also, forehead is done beautifully with a Big Red Bindi, signature of a Bengali bride along with liquid Bindis in White and Red. Rest of the base makeup is clean and minimal with only the lips standing out, often, in shades of Red. Instead of Mehendi, Alta is used to beautify Bengali bride’s hands and feet. To enhance the eyes, thick or cat eye style black liner with curled up lashes and richh coats of mascara are used. Smokey eye makeup done very neatly would also look Gorgeous on a Bong beauty. Lips are often done in semi matte shades as Glossy lips would be too over powering with a heavy eye makeup.
A striking part of Jewellery is the Mukut made out of a plant extract called Shola. Mang tikka often accompanies the mukut. Rest of the jewellery is in traditional designs in Gold. Bangles in Red and White which are called Shankha Pola are also a must for Bengali bridal look.
Sarees are mostly in Red and Gold with a separate Dupatta to cover the head.
